USA Cricketer Akhilesh Reddy Handed Eight-Year Ban for Anti-Corruption Code Breaches

USA off-spinner B. Akhilesh Reddy has been banned from all forms of cricket for eight years after being found guilty of multiple breaches of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Anti-Corruption Code linked to the 2025–26 Abu Dhabi T10 tournament.

The ICC's Anti-Corruption Tribunal found the 26-year-old guilty on all three charges brought against him following an investigation into alleged corrupt activities during the tournament, where he represented the Aspin Stallions in two matches.

Reddy had been provisionally suspended in November 2025 while the investigation was underway. The tribunal has ruled that his eight-year suspension will be backdated to November 21, 2025, the date on which his provisional suspension came into effect.

According to the ICC, Reddy was found guilty of attempting to improperly influence aspects of matches during the Abu Dhabi T10 competition. He was also convicted of attempting to persuade another participant to engage in corrupt conduct and of obstructing the investigation by deleting data and messages from his mobile device that were considered potentially relevant to the inquiry.

The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), which appointed the ICC as the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO) for the tournament, referred the matter to the ICC's Anti-Corruption Tribunal, which subsequently delivered its verdict after reviewing the evidence.

The lengthy suspension effectively sidelines Reddy from all cricketing activities under the ICC's jurisdiction until the completion of his ban.

Reddy made his international debut for the United States in April 2025 and has represented the national team in four Twenty20 Internationals. His suspension marks a significant setback to his career and serves as another reminder of the ICC's continued efforts to combat corruption in the sport.
